A formally verified AKA protocol for vertical handover in heterogeneous environments using Casper/FDR
نویسندگان
چکیده
Next generation networks will comprise different wireless networks including cellular technologies, WLAN and indoor technologies. To support these heterogeneous environments, there is a need to consider a new design of the network infrastructure. Furthermore, this heterogeneous environment implies that future devices will need to roam between different networks using vertical handover techniques. When a mobile user moves into a new foreign network, data confidentiality and mutual authentication between the user and the network are vital issues in this heterogeneous environment. This article deals with these issues by first examining the implication of moving towards an open architecture, and then looking at how current approaches such as the 3GPP, HOKEY and mobile ethernet respond to the new environment while trying to address the security issue. The results indicate that a new authentication and key agreement protocol is required to secure handover in this environment. Casper/ FDR, is used in the analysis and development of the protocol. The proposed protocol has been proven to be successful in this heterogeneous environment.

Introducing a novel authentication protocol for secure services in heterogeneous environments using Casper/FDR
Next Generation Networks is a convergence of networks such as 2G/3G, WLAN as well as the recently implemented Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. Future mobile devices will switch between these different networks to maintain the connectivity with end servers. However, to support these heterogeneous environments, there is a need to consider a new design of the network infrastructure, where curre...
متن کاملA Formally Verified Initial Authentication and Key Agreement Protocol in Heterogeneous Environments Using Casper/FDR
Future mobile networking will involve the convergence of different wireless networks such as 2G, 3G, WiMax and Long Term Evolution. The wide scale deployment of such heterogeneous networks will precipitate a radical change in the network infrastructure, where currently closed systems such as 3G will have to operate in an open environment. This brings to the fore certain security issues which mu...

Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) is a new end-to-end transport protocol that is featured ‘multi-homing.’ The mSCTP (mobile SCTP) is defined as SCTP with the capability of dynamic address reconfiguration. This paper describes a framework of mSCTP handover for supporting vertical handover between heterogeneous IP networks such as WLAN and 3G Cellular systems. We show some experimental ...
متن کاملAnonymous Network Information Acquirement Protocol for Mobile Users in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks
Media independent information service is one of the important parts of the IEEE 802.21 standard to optimize vertical handover in wireless heterogeneous networks. In this paper, an anonymous network information acquirement protocol is proposed for a mobile user, which can be used to establish a secure channel between the mobile user and the information server. Security and performance analysis s...
